What is Upward Bound?
Upward Bound was the first TRIO program which emerged out of the Economic Opportunities Act of 1964 in response to the administration's War-on-Poverty.
The GOAL of the Upward Bound Program is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
Qualifications

Students must be:
-
Low Income
-
Potential First Generation college student
-
In the 9th - 11th grade
-
Possess at least a 2.5 GPA
-
Interested in obtaining a postsecondary degree
Services Provided by Upward Bound
The Upward Bound program consists of an Academic Year Component and a six-week Summer Residential Component.

During the Academic Year (September - May) students meet semi-monthly for academic enrichment which includes:

Academic tutoring
During the six-week Summer Residential Component (June-July) participants reside on the UAPB Campus and receive the following:

Upon completion of the program Students who qualify may participate in a Summer Bridge Program.
